Set just a short walk from the centre of the medieval town of Alaior, which dates back to 1304 and has succeeded in retaining a medieval flavour. 

Alaior is a fascinating town to wander around, with its dramatic topography, interesting buildings, charming courtyards and squares, colourful shops and weekly markets. The town boasts a good selection of places to eat, including some great ice cream parlours! There are some very good quality restaurants serving locally-sourced fresh produce, as well as numerous local bars and pavement cafes to soak up the town's ancient atmosphere.

The central location of Alaior means that you are close to both the north and south coast beaches, to the south the nearest are the beach resorts of Son Bou and Santo Tomas both have long sandy beaches and a wide variety of shops, restaurants and bars. The area between these two resorts in environmentally protected stretch of coast line and perfect for walking, bird watching, painting and photography.

To the north there are the beautiful and stunning unspoilt beaches of Cala Pregonda and Binimel-la, these are again protected and are perfect for sunbathing, swimming, walking, bird watching, painting and photography

The traditional town of Es Mercadal is at the foot of Monte Toro, which stand at 357m and is Menorca’s highest point and an easy ten-minute drive. The town is very pretty with its’ white washed houses, quite narrow streets and small bridges give it a feeling of time gone by. There is a main plaza and a good selection of banks, shops, quality restaurants and great local bars full of atmosphere.

Es Mercadal is known for its excellent food and it is still possible to taste typical Menorcan dishes in many different restaurants in the town: oliaigo amb figues (vegetable soup with figs), albergínies plenes (stuffed aubergines), carabassons plens (stuffed courgettes), calamars plens (stuffed squid) etc. 

There is also a small local handicraft industry making avarcas, typical sandals, which historically were worn, by all the country folk and farmers, but now these shoes are very popular and come in a variety of different colours and designs. 

The beautiful fishing villa of Es Grau with a large sandy beach, great walks into the Biosphere reserve and wonderful local restaurants and bars is an easy fifteen-minute drive. From Es Grau it is possible to hire small motor boats and visit the Illa d`en Colom or one of the small beaches which can only be accessed from the water.

Fornells is a beautiful harbour with a palm tree lined promenade where you will find clusters of quality restaurants serving the well-known culinary delight 'Caldereta de Langosta' (Lobster soup) and local bars most of which overlook the breath taking natural bay (4km long x 2km wide) with several sandy beaches and activities such as windsurfing and dinghy sailing is a comfortable fifteen-minute drive.
