The resort of Binibeca (Binibequer) in Menorca is an idyllic cluster of private villas built around the lovely safe beach of Binibeca and the small fishing cove of Cala Torret which has a few shops and bars, together with several restaurants with lovely sea views where you can experience some fine dining.
Access to the wide, sheltered beach at Binibeca is along a footpath that winds through a small wooded area of pine trees, perfect for picnics. The warm shallow waters and fine white sand of this pretty little bay are ideal for families with younger children or non-swimmers. Parasols, sun loungers and pleasure boats are all available for hire, and the quirky 'Los Bucaneros' is a great place to have a drink or a light meal. In addition to being the oldest beach bar on the island, (it started life as a fisherman's hut) Los Bucaneros famously claims to be the only place in Menorca where you can drink with your feet in the sea! Within 5 minutes drive of Binibeca are several other sandy beaches: to the west lie Binissafúller and Cala Biniparratx, a small unspoilt cove; to the east lie Cala Biniancolla with its small sandy beach, the popular tourist beach at Punta Prima with white sands and safe waters for young families and Alcaufar with its small sandy beach.
Binibeca is an ideal location for exploring the east side of the island, especially on foot or on a bike along one of the many tranquil tracks that criss-cross the area. For those looking for a change of scenery without getting in the car (or exerting too much energy!) a 'road train' connects Binibeca with Binibeca Vell (to the west of Binibeca), and Cala Torret and the beach resort of Punta Prima (to the east of Binibeca).
There is a small town of Sant Lluis (San Luis), less than 5 minutes by car, where there are banks, shops, quality restaurants and great local bars. The capital Mahon (Mao) and the airport are only 15 minutes drive from Binibeca.
