Sant Climent

Situated just 5 kms south west of Mahon and surrounded by farmland, the small town of Sant Climent (San Clemente) dates back to the 13th century. Sant Climent has a variety of local shops, including a well-stocked supermarket, high quality butchers and bakers, as well as banks. There are also several great bars and quality restaurants which are firm favourites with locals and visitors alike - for a special night out, dining at 'Moli de Foc' is highly recommended.

This quiet, whitewashed town with its rural lifestyle offers a peaceful atmosphere, but has become well-known amongst jazz-lovers worldwide. During the summer months jazz concerts are organised at the famous bar restaurant 'Es Casino' (neither a casino or gambling establishment!) which attracts celebrity guest musicians. The weekly jazz club held at Es Casino welcomes visiting musicians.

Sant Climent is a short drive from the capital, Mahon and the harbour with its lively waterfront restaurants, bars, galleries and boutiques. From here you can walk up the ancient steps to the atmospheric old town with an even bigger selection of shops, eateries and places of interest including the colourful food and fish markets.

Also within easy reach of the south coast of the island which is typified by lush pine groves, fine white sandy beaches and calm turquoise waters. Offering a choice of unspoilt sandy coves, isolated rocky inlets and busier beaches, there's something for everyone! The best-known beaches in this area are at Binibeca, Son Bou and Punta Prima

Just outside the town on the Cala en Porter road is the residential area of Binixica (Binixiquer), surrounded by open rural countryside and popular with locals who live and work on the island, as well as holiday-makers.
